While we started planning for the Make Men Smile® hydrocele mission in mid-June, we were told that the surgical Cautery in the operation room of New Hope Hospital, Haiti was broken, we were asked to bring one when we went to Haiti.
We were be able to find the same brand name of cautery and bought the ConMed Sabre 180 at Ebay. But we also needed a lot of cautery handpiece and grounding pads. I contacted the ConMed Rep Jeremy, who is responsible for sales in the Midwest, and he was impressed by our enthusiasm in Haiti medical misson. He promised to bring the cautery handpiece and grounding pads to my office in a few days.
Jeremy did bring two large boxes of cautery pen (40) and grounding pads (40) to my clinic. I asked him, “What is the total price?”. He said: “This is my donation, my heart was touched by your medical mission to help the Haitians.”
The cautery issue was solved early!
